Singapore is a wealthy city-state, well-placed to benefit from the
growth of emerging markets in Asia. It is a largely English-language
market, with long-standing historical and cultural links with the UK.
With post financial crisis deleveraging likely to continue to constrain

Peter Schoppert has over 25 years experience in publishing and related industries, based in Singapore.
He was Senior Editor at Times Editions, Editorial Director at Editions Didier Millet, and Director, Singapore
University Press. He left traditional book publishing to pursue opportunities on the internet in 1996, and
was a co-founder of leading regional consumer online publisher, Asiacontent,com, where he served as
Senior Vice President, and Publisher of CNET Asia. After six years with McKinsey & Company, Peter
established PS Media Asia, a boutique consultancy, serving regional advertising agencies, book and
newspaper publishers on questions of digital strategy. After completing this report, Peter accepted a
