Summer Recess Reading List for Parliamentarians

ConsumerPress Release

From crime to cookery, politics to picture books, there’s something for everyone. The Publishers Association are delighted to present its 2019 Summer Recess Reading List for Parliamentarians. All the following titles have been nominated by a selection of our members, including big and small publishing houses across the country, as their recommended reading for the coming months.

Knowledge and learning are vital, whatever format you favour. So why are digital readers taxed 20% more? Axe the Reading Tax is calling for the removal of VAT on all digital publications: ebooks, audiobooks, research journals, textbooks and educational materials, newspapers and magazines.

Printed publications have always rightly been zero-rated, but their digital equivalents are subject to 20% VAT. This is illogical and unfair. Reading has changed and the tax system needs to change too. Support our campaign and call on the UK government to right this wrong.
