The PA Publishing Yearbook 2017

Front cover of the PA Publishing Yearbook 2017

The PA Publishing Yearbook 2017, our latest annual collection of industry statistics shows the publishing industry continues to be a powerhouse of the creative industries, with total income rising by 5% to £5.7bn. You’ll notice we have made some further changes to the Yearbook design this year and, for the first time, have reduced the content in the printed edition and made the digital version longer and more comprehensive. We hope these changes will make our statistics easier to navigate and understand, as well as reducing our print footprint.

Highlights:

  • Total physical and digital books sales up 4% to £3.7bn
  • Total digital books and journals sales income up 3% to £1.8bn
  • Total physical book sales income up 5% to £3.1bn
  • Total journal sales income up 5% to £1.6bn
  • Total journal export income up 5% to £1.4bn
