Launched in October 2021 with 39 founding signatories, the Publishing Declares pledge is proud to have 182 signatures and counting. But three years on, what is the industry doing on environmental sustainability?

Following a survey from the Publishers Association to signatories, Siena Parker, Chair of the PA’s Sustainability Taskforce, and Alice Wood, Sustainability Manager at the Publishers Association, discuss the results and the work left to do.

Speaker: Alice Wood, Sustainability Manager, Publishers Association

Alice Wood is the Publishers Association’s first ever Sustainability Manager, coming from a sustainability consulting background. Previously she worked as a Sustainability Analyst in the research team at a TMT consultancy, where she grew its sustainability practice and launched its first sustainability products and reports on the sustainability strategies of global companies, and as a Sustainability Consultant in the real estate and finance industry. At the Publishers Association, Alice has spent the last year leading the Sustainability Taskforce, working on the PA’s sustainability tools, and supporting members on their sustainability journeys. Alice is passionate about all aspects about sustainability but causes very close to her heart are climate change, gender equality, human rights, and corporate kindness. Alice is a certified ‘Work Kind Individual’.

Speaker: Siena Parker, Social Impact Director, Penguin Random House

She has a background in responsible business, previously working for brewer Heineken.
