Publishers Association Yearbook 2019

The Publishers Association Yearbook 2019 contains statistical analysis of publisher revenue for consumer, education, and academic books and journals with 100+ accompanying tables and graphs. 2019 was publishing’s best year ever with total publishing sales reaching £6.3bn and growth across every sector.

The report is available to purchase for £95 or if you are a member of the Publishers Association, you can download it for free from our Members’ Area.

Our thanks to Nielsen Book Research, who compile and analyse the Yearbook data, and the participants of our various statistics schemes.

The figures quoted in the Yearbook 2019 prove the strength the publishing industry showed last year. It is our hope that this strength can translate to resilience as the sector adapts to the trading realities of post-pandemic Britain.

Caroline Dinenage MP, Minister of State for Digital and Culture

Over the past year, the industry has not only shown itself to be resilient but to have flourished. In fact, 2019 was UK publishing’s best year ever.

Stephen Lotinga, Chief Executive of the Publishers Association
