Since the last edition of PA's PR, the PA has published a report from Frontier Economics on the value of the UK publishing industry, the winners of the Parliamentary Book Awards have now been announced and a report on the transition to open access has shown that over a third of UK-authored research articles are now freely available on publication.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, Creative Industries Minister Matt Hancock described publishing as the UK's "shop window to the world" as he gave the keynote speech at the Building Inclusivity in Publishing conference last week; the shortlist for the Parliamentary Book Awards have been released; and the third #workinpublishing week saw a packed week of activity and engagement.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, Creative Industries Minister Matt Hancock has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at the Building Inclusivity in Publishing Conference, the PA has been getting ready for the return of #workinpublishing week next week and the Creative Industries Council held a reception in parliament where it revealed a survey showing widespread support for the creative industries amongst parliamentarians.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, additional speakers have been confirmed for this year's Building Inclusivity in Publishing conference and for the PA/BESA Educational Publishers Conference, the PA has hired new Heads of Communications and Public Affairs and we have confirmed partners for this year's #workinpublishing week.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, the PA has launched a 10-point industry-wide action plan and targets which aim to tackle inclusivity within the publishing workforce, submissions for the Parliamentary Book Awards are now open to publishers, #workinpublishingweek is returning this year from Monday 13 November and the PA is organising the UK Pavilion at the Taipei International Book Fair.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, the PA and The London Book Fair have announced that the Building Inclusivity in Publishing Conference is returning for its second year, new figures have shown that the Spare Room Project has supported 35 guests to date and Professor Dame Alison Peacock has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the  PA/BESA Educational Publishers Conference.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, the PA has worked with the Bookseller to publish internship guidelines for publishers, two new SME publisher workshops have been launched and a Turkish publisher and a Turkish publishing house have been awarded the International Publishers Association's Prix Voltaire.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, William Bowes from Cambridge University Press has been appointed as our new General Counsel and Director of Policy, the PA has announced a half-day seminar for members on upcoming data protection laws, the PA's Emma House has spoken about accessibility in publishing and publishers have supported a new vocational course at UCL aimed at increasing diversity in publishing.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, audiobook publishers have launched the first #loveaudio week, the PA has hosted the UK stand at Seoul International Book Fair, and bookcareers.com has started gathering data for its 2017 salary survey.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, our Vice President and CEO of HarperCollins Charlie Redmayne has given a keynote speech at Createch 2017 on how publishers are disrupting the sector, the PA has released a number of snapshot reports and the Academic Book of the Future report has called for collaboration within the academic book community.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, we have held our Annual General Meeting, which saw Hodder Education's Lis Tribe taking over as our new President, the winners of the British Book Awards have been announced and the EU has accepted a commitment from Amazon to alter its e-book contracts.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, we have released figures detailing the state of the UK publishing industry which has revealed that sales of books and journals reached £4.8bn in 2016, and have held our first member breakfast briefing on Brexit and Free Trade Agreements

Since the last edition of PA's PR, Tim Shipman, political editor of the Sunday Times, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at our AGM, the apprenticeship levy has come into force and we have sent out invites to our first member breakfast briefing on Brexit and Free Trade Agreements.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, the PA has hosted, attended and spoken at a number of seminars, panels and debates at the London Book Fair, including the Charles Clark Memorial Lecture, the Quantum Conference, a seminar on whether Brexit is good or bad for publishing and a seminar on accessibility in publishing.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, the government has moved to extend the Public Lending Right to remote e-lending, the PA has produced a market brief on the book market in Belarus and the programme of events for this year's Market Focus Poland has been released.

Since the last edition of PA's PR, the PA has been preparing for Academic Book Week, the Bookseller has said it will hold a unified British Book Awards event for books and the trade for the first time since 2004, and World Book Day has launched a children's illustration competition to design a new National Book Token.
