Commenting on the publication today of Professor Tickell’s independent advice to Universities and Science Minister Jo Johnson MP on the Government’s open access polices and priorities, and the Minister’s response, Stephen Lotinga, Chief Executive of The Publishers Association said:
“This report recognises the significant progress that publishers and the research community have made to deliver open access in the UK. Professor Tickell’s acknowledgement that no major changes to the UK’s approach are necessary demonstrates the consensus that was reached, and which is continuing, following the Finch Review.
The detail behind the recommendations will need careful consideration but we look forward to continuing to work with the Government and all other parties to ensure the UK’s successful approach remains best practice around the world.”
