AI and the Future of Publishing

Panel

Organiser: Publishers Association - rsvp@publishers.org.uk

Venue: Online Event , Virtual

On Thursday 8th October, experts from across government, research and legal sectors will examine the impact of artificial intelligence on the publishing industry at a virtual event hosted by the Publishers Association.

The event marks the launch of the Publishers Association’s report with Frontier Economics entitled People Plus Machines: The role of AI in publishing.

As well as presenting an audit of how publishers use AI, the report examines how technological developments may impact existing IP frameworks. The event will therefore discuss pertinent questions such as who owns the copyright to a book written exclusively by AI and how can the law and policy keep pace with technological developments?

Chaired by Annie Callanan, President of the Publishers Association and CEO of Taylor & Francis, the panel features:

  • Ros Lynch Director of Copyright and IP Enforcement, IPO
  • Sana Khareghani Head of Office for AI, DCMS and BEIS
  • Dr Daniela Simone Lecturer in Law, University College London and University of Macquarie, Australia
  • Catherine Etienne Senior Associate, Frontier Economics

This event is delivered by the Publishers Association and attendance is free for members.

If you are not a member of the Publishers Association, the fee is £30 (excluding tax and booking fees), which you can redeem against the cost of your membership if you join the Publishers Association. If you’d like to find out more about membership, get in touch: membership@publishers.org.uk
