In 2017, 621 exhibitors from 59 countries took part in the Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE), an increase of 10% on the previous year. The number of Taiwanese exhibitors rose by 55% to 315, and international exhibitors were represented by Thailand, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, France and the UK.
Titles published in Chinese cannot normally be used across the Taiwan/mainland China markets, because Taiwan uses traditional (or complex) characters (as does Hong Kong), whereas mainland China uses simplified characters. UK publishers need to be fully aware of these differences when doing business in these markets.
The Publishers Association (PA), in partnership with the Department for International Trade (DIT), is organising a UK Pavilion at TIBE 2018. The exhibition package costs £2,600.00 and includes a fully furnished custom-built stand, providing each company with the following:
- A dedicated meeting area with 1 desk and 3 chairs
- Company name
- 6 x 1 metre shelves. Additional Perspex book stands are also available
- 1 lockable cupboard
- A catalogue entry
- Exhibitor passes
- Services of a stand manager
- Consolidated shipping rates (additional cost)
