We are experts in marketing research and technology-related consulting in the education and medical sector, including usability and accessibility testing.

Our clients include exam boards, publishers, content developers and institutions wanting an understanding of the needs of teachers, headteachers, pupils, parents, students, medical and other professionals, academics and other educational leaders.

We provide the following services:

  • Market research
  • Usability & accessibility testing
  • Search engine marketing and e-consultancy
  • Training

Expertise and experience in the education sector were the principal reasons we chose to work with Shift Media (now Shift Learning). They have consistently provided an outstanding level of service.. It is refreshing to work with a company with a thoughtful consultative approach, and that brings so many suggestions to the table. Working in partnership with Shift Media is always a real pleasure. (Chris Chamberlain, Marketing Manager, Pearson Education)

I can't thank Helene and the team at Shift Learning enough for the excellent work carried out on such a major research project. From the start, the project has been managed and planned with great expertise and knowledge. The attention to detail, ability to shift gear as we went along as necessary and to provide updates all along the way has been second to none. The final reporting and presentation has provided much more than we had originally hoped for this project, giving us a wealth of detailed knowledge analysis and understanding of the market place and project which will be invaluable to the team here and for product development. I would whole-heartedly recommend Shift Learning for future market research projects and it has been a pleasure to work with Helene and the team. (Senior Commissioning Editor, Pharmaceutical Press)

Description (overview of services)

We pride ourselves on making things happen. At Shift Learning, insight is combined with a focus on practical results. We provide solutions that are as individual as each of our clients.

Market research

Research is a speciality of Shift Learning.

Each research project we design for our clients is different and based on their needs. We offer the following core research methodologies to our clients.

  • Desk research
  • eSurveys
  • Telephone interviews / CATI interviews
  • Focus groups
  • Online focus groups
  • Field research

Some of our research projects also involve elements of our usability services.

Our projects vary enormously in scale from statistically significant surveys conducted in a number of different languages to very small scale projects looking at the market for one particular product.

We also conduct regular syndicated research projects, often focussed on curriculum change. These are shared by a number of different clients.

Previous research clients include Pearson Education, Oxford University Press, Nelson Thornes, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, Collins Education, BBC Worldwide, The British Computer Society, Edexcel, NCFE, Espresso Education and Hackney Learning Trust.

Usability and accessibility testing

Our usability and accessibility services are designed to ensure that your online products are really user friendly and can be accessed by everybody in your target market. We test both websites and software. At Shift Media we specialise in the educational publishing field so we have a real insight into the needs of your market.

Search engine marketing and e-consultancy

Our consulting services will help you to make the most out of your web presence. We can advise you on how to make your content findable by even the most impatient of users. We can tell you about practical steps you can take, both technical and non-technical to give you a targetted and compelling presence on most major search engines.
