APD Conference 2011
The annual Academic and Professional Division conference for academics and publishers will take place from 10.00 - 16.00 on Monday 21st November at the ICO Conference Centre, 22 Berners Street, London W1T 3DD. It will be followed by a drinks reception.
Students at the Heart of the System: how to fulfil their learning needs? aims to explore the implications of the White Paper Higher Education: Students at the Heart of the System, published in June and consulting until 20 September 2011. The way in which its policies are implemented will have profound implications for students, academics, librarians, university administrators, authors, publishers and booksellers. This conference is a platform to share perspectives and debate the issues.

10.35 – 11.20 Keynote address: Professor Ian Diamond, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, University of Aberdeen
11.20 – 11.45 Questions and discussion arising from keynote
11.45 – 12.45 Student Forum. Six students facilitated by an academic convenor give their view of the White Paper, and discuss how learning resources could be delivered and paid for
13.00 – 14.00 Lunch
14.00 – 14.45 New directions (1): two case studies cited in the White Paper
