The retail book market in France in 2007 registered a decline of 0.9 per cent in value and a 2.7 per cent reduction in volume. In recent years the sectors have experienced positive growth have been fiction, children's books and comic strip books. All other book sectors have lost momentuum due to substitution by other media and the growth in the availability of online content on websites.
