Society of Authors campaigns against short story cuts

Print

The Society of Authors has launched a campaign to oppose plans to cut BBC Radio 4’s short story output.

From Spring of next year, there is due to be a reduction of short stories from three to one a week. The Society of Authors is urging Gwyneth Williams, Controller of BBC Radio 4, to reconsider the decision to reduce the short stories output.

For those who are interested in supporting this campaign, The PA has reposted suggestions from the Society of Authors on how to get involved:

1) Sign the online petition here (signing the petition is absolutely free. After signing there is an option to donate to iPetitions to keep it free, but this is not a donation to National Short Story Week and no donation to iPetitions is necessary);

2) Write to Radio 4's Feedback programme, who will be interviewing Gwyneth Williams very soon, and ask her why she has made this decision;

3) Send your comments or questions directly to: Gwyneth Williams, Controller BBC Radio 4, Broadcasting House, London W1A 1AA. Or email gwyneth.williams @bbc.co.uk (anti-spam measure - copy and paste the address and close gap between williams and @).
