GESS Dubai 2009
GESS Education Exhibition Dubai
10-12 March 2009
UK Trade & Investment has provided funds for a Publishers Association collective stand, primarily for educational publishers, at the Gulf Education Supplies and Solutions Exhibition (GESS) 2009 in Dubai. The exhibition is aimed at educational suppliers in the extended Gulf region, officials from education ministries and international schools in the region. The fair is targeted at export sales rather than rights trading.
The purpose of the grant is to enable UK publishers to take a look at this exhibition at low cost. It was originally developed as a UK showpiece exhibition by BESA (British Educational Suppliers Association) and developed as an international exhibition for educational resources. There are still some Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) grants of £1,000 available to smaller companies, for which exhibitors on the collective are eligible. These are administered via BESA (see http://www.besa.org.uk/besa/events/view.jsp?item=184).
There were problems earlier in the year over a venue for this exhibition. It is now to be in the Dubai Airport complex, which – unlike much of Dubai – has good transport facilities and relatively inexpensive hotels. Participants on the collective can book a minimum space of 4 square metres with the usual shell scheme facilities, and will have the services of a PA colleague throughout the exhibition. UKTI will provide branding for the UK publishers area.
