Six people, including Owner/Partner Suresh Patel, were arrested. One Owner/Partner is absconding and has been listed as wanted in the case. The six individuals arrested were brought before the Magistrate today and have been remanded to police custody until 4th April 2008.
A list of sample titles from those seized is available on request.
Akash Chittranshi of aca-law has given the following statement about the raid:
'The piracy problem continues at such magnitude causing huge loss of revenue to publishers and to the national exchequer, since none have yet been sentenced for committing piracy. Cases remain pending in courts endlessly and acussed get the benefit of delay. This encourages people to repeat the offence of piracy as they make huge profits from piracy. Take the example of the Chamunda Copiers raided on 27th March 2008 at Mumbai, this is the 2nd case of piracy against this business. Indian Government urgently needs to address the issue of providing early conclusion of anti piracy cases across all industries.'
