Last Tuesday I went to a really interesting event organised by the Children's Writers and Illustrators Group of the Society of Authors, to discuss the proposals to put age guidance on books for children
Now academics can copy with a good conscience.

PA: Publishers selling more for less

The Bookseller, Tom Tivnan - Publishers are facing increasingly tight margins and are selling "more for less," as the price of books has fallen for the fifth year in a row. According to the Publishers Association's Statistics Yearbook 2007, out on 23rd April, the overall average invoiced price of books fell to £3.50 from £3.59 in 2006.
Age-ranging gets the thumbs up

The Bookseller - The vast majority of children's publishers have backed plans to introduce age guidance for children's books, and will implement the system from this autumn. The publishers, which include Hachette, Penguin, Random House, Scholastic and HarperCollins, will start age-ranging on black and white fiction, eventually rolling it out to all children's categories.
