J K Rowling battles against age bands for children's books
Telegraph.co.uk, 14 July 2008
J K Rowling has joined the fight against publishers' plans to categorise childrens books by introducing age bands at which they should be read.
The Society of Authors claims that 77 per cent of children's authors are against the controversial plans. But publishers argue that the majority of them agree to it.
The initiative comes after research two years ago by the Children's Book Group of the Publishers' Association suggested that 86 per cent of book-buyers were in favour of age guidance.
