Wheeler hits back at criticism

Tony Wheeler, co-founder of Lonely Planet, has launched a ferocious response to criticism of BBC Worldwide's majority ownership in the travel guide publisher.

Time Out founder Tony Elliott's plea to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) for an investigation into BBC Worldwide's involvement in Lonely Planet at the Edinburgh Television Festival has been rebuffed, but the Publishers Association is now set to make a submission to the Culture, Media & Sport Select Committee into the commercial operations of the BBC.
