News: Writers' Guild 'Best Book' Award


 

 Call for Submissions for the Writers' Guild 'Best Book' Award 2008
 
 
 
Last year, the Writers' Guild of Great Britain re-launched its annual writers' award, with great success. The ceremony at BAFTA on Sunday 28 November 2007 was very well attended and attracted over 200 high profile writers, stars and industry professionals.
 
 
In 2008, the Writers'  Guild will be inviting submissions from UK publishers for the Best Book Award. these will be judged according to whether they represent quality writing and offer a good read.
 
 
Each publisher can make a maximum of two submissions. The entry fee is £50 per submission.
 
 
Please note: the award is for the writer of the book, rather than the publisher. Short-listed writers will be invited to the ceremony on Sunday 23rd November 2008.
 
 
The criteria for eligibility for the award is as follows:
 

Nominated writer(s) must be British or work in Britain.  Eligible books must have been first published and released during the period 1 June 2007 - 31 May 2008 inclusive. 

Submissions should be made to: The Writers’ Guild Best Book Award 2008, Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, 15 Britannia Street, London WC1X 9JN

Please send FOUR COPIES of each book you wish to nominate for the award. 

Deadline for entries: Monday 14th July 2008

Cheques should be made out to the Writers' Guild of Great Britain.
