Trade Publishers Council (TPC)

Welcome to the Trade Publishers Council homepage

TPC is the PA division which acts for the UK’s world-leading trade publishing sector.  It is chaired by Ursula McKenzie (Little, Brown) and attended by Chief Executive Simon Juden, and directed by a Board of 12 publishers which meets quarterly.

We protect and promote copyright and related rights as they evolve within the digital arena.  We work with other industry stakeholders on issues like embargo dates, public library  supply,
VAT and grey goods.  We work with our partners within the Federation of European Publishers and International Publishers Association on issues like the freedom to publish, accessible content and the European Digital Library project.

We work with organisations such as BIC to develop and promote digital and other standards throughout the supply chain.
Environmental  matters are a key concern, and a separate Industry Environmental Action Group has been formed.

The PA actively supports the World Book Day and National Year of Reading legacy initiatives, and works proactively to promote reading and literature within the UK and more widely.  The PA also provides members with comprehensive statistics on both the UK and overseas markets.

Representative mmebers of the TPC meet on a quarterly basis with members of the Booksellers Association Council at the PA/BA Forum.
