Grants available for technology projects

The Technology Strategy Board recognises both the significant contribution that small companies make in driving innovation and the challenges they face in finding the time and resources to explore and develop new ideas.  In a sector, characterised by a high proportion of small and micro companies this is particularly pertinent to the creative industries.

They are particularly keen to target creative industries, which includes publishers.

To encourage greater involvement, the TSB is to pilot two new initiatives to run alongside the more traditional collaborative R&D scheme:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Fast-track projects
  • Collaborative R&D
Feasibility Studies – available only to SMEs the aim is to encourage small creative companies to explore initial ideas to develop them into something more tangible that can be used to secure further development investment. Particularly where the company needs to access resources or skills outside of their organisation to take the idea forward.

Fast-track Projects – available only to SMEs - essentially a “lite” version of the larger collaborative R&D programme, but for smaller and shorter projects.

Collaborative R&D – for larger and longer projects and open to large and small companies and the research base.
