  1. How can I find out if a publisher has been taken over by another publisher?

    The Directory of Publishers, published by Continuum, lists publishers and their imprints. The directory is available in the reference section of libraries or directly from the publisher:

  2. Do you have a list of book fairs?

    division, we provide companies (members and non-members of the PA), with an easy one-stop service at some book fairs. We will take care of your entire stand booking requirements, including orgainsing your shipping to and from the fair, on-site catering and stand assistants, if required.

    We also organise collective stands at a number of international book fairs, for those companies requiring a smaller display area.

    Some of our book fairs attract UK Trade & Investment support. If you are an established company looking to break into these markets or a new exporter, then you could be entitled to support.


  3. Where can I find information about a writer?

    The Society of Authors has a list of member authors on their website.

    You can also visit the British Council's database of Contemporary Writers, compiled in association with Booktrust 


  4. How can I find out who publishes a book?

    By looking at online booksellers' websites, you can usually find out the name of the publisher of a book and even the ISBN number.     


  5. I am attending a book fair for the first time, can you offer any advice?

    Start by visiting the official website of the fair you are attending; these can also be found on the book fair section of our website. Most will have a list of exhibitors attending the fair. If you are planning on visiting a company at the fair it is best to try and make an appointment before hand as most publishers will have pre-booked appointments throughout the fair.
     
    Check if there are any seminars or courses being run during the fair as these can provide valuable networking opportunities and an excellent source of advice.
     
    If you are a writer and are thinking of attending a fair, you should be aware that most fairs are for trade and although it can be a good opportunity to see publishers stands and the types of books they are publishing, it is very unlikely that you will be able to meet with anyone to discuss your book, unless you have already made an appointment.          


  6. I'm looking for a publisher specialising in a certain subject, how can I get a list?
